I am able to offer Hatha Yoga classes, 121 Yoga sessions and Yoga Therapy, Mindfulness classes and a light touch therapy called the Bowen Technique. I am an experienced practitioner, qualifying as a homeopath 20 years ago, adding the Bowen Technique to my skills in 1999 and becoming a BWY yoga teacher in 2008 and have been practicing yoga for nearlly 30 years. I have just moved to Buxton in the High Peaks after having a successful practice in Kent based around Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells. I am able to offer yoga/mindfulness classes and Bowen Technique in Buxton, Ashbourne, Chapel en le Frith, Leek and New Mills. I also like to offer these classes to charities supporting mental health, carers and young offenders, and work within schools teaching mindfulness.
I have always had an interest in health and wellbeing, probably influenced by the fact that my mother suffered from MS and I have had asthma since I was 7 yrs old. My interest in complementary medicine started when I found that the doctors only had one option to treat my asthma, which was steroids and inhalers. The fact that altering my diet, using exercise and relaxation techniques would help my symptoms was of little interest to my doctors. As it was likely that I would have asthma for the rest of my life I looked into other ways of treating it. Since I discovered yoga I have not been in hospital due to asthma, and I have had periods where I have not needed my inhalor at all. I actually use all of my practices to help my asthmatic symptoms, Bowen Technique, Mindfulness and Yoga Therapy.
In the past I have worked with mental health charities, where I have gained experience relating to people in emotional crisis.I have also worked with young carers and adult carers for the last 9 years, offering 121 support, advice and information plus support groups. I ran yoga classes twice a week for adult carers which were very well attended plus yoga classes and Mindfulness workshops for young carers.
